From the first time ever working in a recording studio I've absolutely loved and enjoyed the experience. There's something magical that goes on in there and can be very fulfilling after a good recording session.
So, with our current state of technology putting together a killer home recording studio has become very easy and inexpensive. When I first started working in pro studios maybe 25 years ago, the major pieces of equipment like mixing consoles and recorders had price tags in the several hundred thousand dollar range.
In those days we'd be at home recording onto a small 4 track cassette player with maybe a reverb unit. Hey, the beatles recorded St. Peppers on a 4 track so we were happy.
The good news is today anyone can record their own CD at home.....
The bad news is today anyone can record their own CD at home!
You don't need the very best gear on the market to record good quality music. The most important thing is the quality of the music and not the gear. It's easy to get carried away with all the great and reasonably inexpensive gear we have access to today. It's a good thing but we should remember it's not the most important thing.
If you record a song at home and play it to a friend, he probably won't say something like "Wow, did you record that on a Roland VS-2480CD on a 24 bit audio engine @ 96kHz?" What he'll say is "hey, cool tune", or, "that sucks!"
All this cheaply priced gear out there is great news for us home recording enthusiasts and if you look around a bit on this site and others you'll find some great gear that'll get your music recorded without breaking the bank and that's the bottom line.
The stuff on this web site is either gear I own, have owned or have worked with or know people who have it or have worked with it. Most of it has been around a bit and has proven itself.
Wishing you all the luck with your musical ventures
Rock On!
