Digital Audio Interface For Computer Recording
If you're like a lot of people you'll be doing your multitrack recording on the computer. This will require a few things; first a computer (wow really?) Then an audio recording software program, and then a piece of hardware called an "interface" which is where you connect your mics and instruments so the computer software program can recognize them.
Audio interfaces will be either USB and MIDI or FireWire. One of the best is this one:
MOTU Traveler FireWire Audio Interface
A complete and very versatile interface for most home studios. Will work with the most popular Mac and PC operating sytems and most any software program. Not cheap though, it'll run you just under $900.
Next favorite is the M-Audio ProFire 2626. Not quite as nice as the MOTU but comes in under $600 and very versatile as well.
